ALERT!!!
One of the caterpillars I have been taking care of hatched from it's chrysalis earlier today! Also one is on it's way out. To feed it, my mom took a tomato slice, cut out the edible part and sprinkled sugar on it. That should keep the butterfly not hungry for a day or two. When the butterfly hatched it seemed like it was bleeding like it wasn't. The red stuff that I thought was blood is actually a waste fluid that the butterfly gets rid of while its wings pump up with blood for up to four hours. In that period of time the butterfly also dries its wings. When it's wings are dried off and have blood in the veins the butterfly will be able to fly. The butterfly is pretty cool and I can't wait till the other ones hatch!
